Instructional / Learn-to-Skate
The BJHL Instructional Program is for children to learn and develop skating skills and to learn the fundamentals of hockey. Eligible players must not be part of the travel league program (level Mite B and up). The instructional program was revised in accordance with USA Hockey guidelines and incorporates skating and skills stations, as well as the introduction of pucks. The program is designed to develop skating skills and to increase the enjoyment of the children participating. All skaters will need full equipment which includes hockey helmet with cage, elbow and shin pads, hockey pants, and a chest protector is also recommended. Some sporting goods stores have starter packages available for instructional players and the BJHL also runs equipment sales at the beginning of the season. Skaters will be needing sticks about a month after Instructional starts but coaches will let you know when that time comes.
House League begins on 11/3/13 and runs through 3/2/14
The Instructional/Learn-to-Skate Program is held on BOTH Saturday and Sunday so skaters will attend both days each week during the following times:
Saturday: 9:00 am - 9:50 am
Sunday: 3:30 pm - 4:20 pm
Cost for Instructional/Learn-to-Skate:
$380 for Burrillville residents
$430 for out of town residents
Instructional/Learn-to-Skate begins on 10/12/13 and runs through 3/2/14
Junior House League:
Instructional participants also have the option of joining Junior House League, which is a 3-on-3 cross ice game designed to give players multiple opportunities to touch the puck, take more shots on net and have more chances to pass, as well as improve their skating skills. Junior House League games are conveniently scheduled Sundays following Instructional/Learn-to-Skate from 4:30 - 5:20 pm.
When combining Junior House League and Instructional/Learn-to-Skate the cost for Junior House League is an additional $50 to the above Instructional/Learn-to-Skate fees:
$430 total for Burrillville residents
$480 total for out of town residents
